"Sharing has elements of inter-connectedness,
of a village-like community, of a transformative altruism. But 'economy' puts us squarely in a transactional mindset and culture of convenience."
- Nipun Mehta
"Gift Economy/Culture is the idea that is that although gifts may not be directly reciprocated, broad participation leads to a system in which people give according to their abilities and receive according to their needs." Source
Inspired by Charles Eisenstein in his book and video "Sacred Economics.” I have adopted gift culture into my coaching practice. I have been given a wonderful gift; the knowledge and skill to coach The Work of Bryon Katie, and I receive the delight to work with people every day who wake up to themselves. I want to share this gift with anyone willing to play in The Work no matter their ability, know-how, and economic status; thus providing a service that has no explicit agreement. My clients give what they feel their session is worth to them and their current circumstances.
Certified coaches offering similar services like myself may charge upfront anywhere from $200 to $800 or more. This leaves the client in the hope they get what they are paying. Gift culture is the reverse, you receive my gift of coaching and you get to decide your altruism. Come partner with the many clients like you to build a village-like community.
